Houston Rockets guard James Harden scored 40 points in just 29 minutes during a 133-102 win over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday. He added six rebounds, eight assists, eight turnovers and eight makes from downtown.
Harden is the fourth player to score 40 points in under 30 minutes this season and so far when Harden scores at least 40 points, the Rockets are 6-2. Interestingly enough, all eight of his 40-point games have come since since December 31. He is easily in the running for MVP this season if the Rockets can secure a high seed in the Western Conference.
Harden is averaging 29.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and a league-leading 11.3 assists per game. He owns a .524 effective field goal percentage and his nERD of 13.1 ranks 3rd-best in the NBA currently.
