Cavaliers bring in Derrick Williams on 10-day contract

The Cleveland Cavaliers are signing forward Derrick Williams to a 10-day deal.

What It Means:

Williams was waived by the Miami Heat on Monday and appears to have cleared the waivers. The Cavaliers have more pressing needs at point guard and center, so it'll be up to Williams to earn a role for himself in the rotation. He's not a recommended add, but with LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love all expected to sit for the second half of a back-to-back set on Thursday, Williams could be an intriguing DFS target if he's active.

Williams shot a career-low 39.4 percent from the field in 25 games (11 starts) with the Heat this season while averaging 5.9 points and 2.9 rebounds over 15.1 minutes per game. His -1.1 nERD is currently tied for 321st in the NBA.
