Spurs taking conservative approach with Kawhi Leonard's hand
San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said that he'll be taking a conservative approach while bringing back guard/forward Kawhi Leonard from a minor hand injury.
"We just decided it was the safe thing to do," Popovich said of his decision to withhold Leonard from Tuesday's win over the Raptors. "I’d rather err on the side of being conservative than lose him for three weeks because he gets whacked again." Leonard isn't dealing with any sort of break or structural damage, so it would be surprising if he's not back by Friday to take on the New Orleans Pelicans.
Kyle Anderson has replaced Leonard in the Spurs' starting lineup for the past two games, and he's averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in 33.3 minutes.
