Clippers to be without Chris Paul for six-to-eight weeks

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul has a torn ligament in his left thumb and is expected to miss the next six-to-eight weeks.

What It Means:

Awful news for Paul and the Clippers as CP3 will undergo surgery, knocking him out until at least early-March. The point guard had just come back from a hamstring injury that cost him seven games too. Not coincidently, the Clips went 2-5 in those games. On a positive note, Blake Griffin is reportedly within a week or two from returning from knee surgery. With Paul sidelined, Austin Rivers and Raymond Felton both make for great pickups.

Rivers has played much better in a starting role as he has averaged 16.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 three-pointers in 13 starts this season. His -0.8 nERD on the year ranks him outside the top-300.
