76ers' Jerryd Bayless (wrist surgery) out for year

Philadelphia 76ers point guard Jerryd Bayless (left wrist) had surgery on Thursday and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

What It Means:

Tough break for the nine-year veteran as he can't seem to stay healthy. Bayless missed 30 games for the Milwaukee Bucks last season and only played in three games this year for the 76ers. With him officially out, it clears the way for Sergio Rodriguez to stop looking over his shoulder at a potential Bayless return, while also providing the reassurance of the full-time starting spot all to himself. T.J. McConnell will back him up, and Ben Simmons will play some point guard too when he returns from a foot injury.

Rodriguez has started 23 games for Philly, averaging 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.5 three-pointers per game.
