Lakers' D'Angelo Russell will begin on-court work
Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell (knee) has been cleared to start going through on-court work with the Lakers, although he will not be traveling with the team for Wednesday's game against the Houston Rockets.
Russell has missed 10 of the Lakers last 11 games with a knee injury but is nearing a return. Head coach Luke Walton has ruled the sophomore guard out for L.A.'s next three games, but there remains a chance Russell will be ready to suit up against the Sacramento Kings on Monday. Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams will continue to rack up the playing time in the Lakers backcourt with Russell still out.
Russell was showing much improvement over his rookie season as he averaged 16.1 points and 4.8 assists in 13 games played this year. He also was carrying a -0.7 nERD rating, light-years ahead of the -10.0 he posted in 2015-16.
