Jeremy Lin (hamstring) not playing for Nets in matchup with Boston

Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin (hamstring) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Boston Celtics.

What It Means:

"I think with all of us, we’re super focused on the long term approach," head coach Kenny Atkinson said in regards to Lin's recovery. "I know from a coaching standpoint I prefer to take a cautious approach and I know my performance team agrees with that... We want to make sure he progresses the right way and when he returns to play, he’s ready to go." Hamstring issues tend to linger, so it's better to take it easy with this sort of injury. Lin turned in a 45-minute workout on Tuesday, so he's making progressing, and could potentially return on Friday against the Indiana Pacers. He hasn't played since November 2.

Through five games this season, Lin is averaging 15.0 points, 6.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 3-pointers per game on 44.8 percent shooting from the field. His 0.1 nERD ranks fourth on the Nets.
