Oklahoma City's Cameron Payne (foot) hoping to avoid surgery
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Cameron Payne is hopeful that he can avoid surgery to correct an acute fracture to the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
Payne will try to let his foot recover on its own accord and will be re-evaluated in 6-8 weeks. However, surgery remains a possibility depending on how that check-up goes. If he manages to avoid any setbacks, Payne is still expected to miss at least the first month, with the possibility it extends much further. The uncertainty should push him off draft boards in most leagues.
Payne managed a -0.2 nERD in his rookie year, ranking 82nd in the NBA, while he averaged 5.0 points, 1.9 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game, with a .490 true shooting percentage and 12.9 player efficiency rating.
