San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhil Leonard tallied 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists in the Spurs' preseason opener on Monday.
Leonard was the only Spurs' starter playing in this one, and he played an expanded role, regularly acting as a ball handler in the pick-and-roll.
Leonard turned in a phenomenal season last year, posting career-highs with 21.2 points and 2.6 assists per game, while also averaging 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 33.1 minutes per game. His 26.0 player efficiency rating and .616 true shooting percentage were also the best marks of his career.
