Josh Richardson suffers partially torn MCL, should be ready for Heat opener
Miami Heat guard/forward Josh Richardson suffered a partially torn MCL in his right knee.
Additional details should be provided in the coming days. A partially torn MCL typically requires three-to-six weeks on the shelf, but whether or not surgery is required will be a determining factor in Richardson's timetable. With almost two months to rehab, he'll have a good chance to play in the season opener. Tyler Johnson and Dion Waiters figure to see the biggest boost in minutes if Richardson is still sidelined at the beginning of the season.
Richardson posted a 0.7 nERD, which ranked 73rd, in 52 games last season as a rookie. He averaged 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, while recording a .569 true shooting percentage.
