Grizzlies' Marc Gasol says foot healing as expected

Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol (foot) said all indications show that his foot is healing as expected.

What It Means:

Gasol spoke with a Spanish newspaper and said he was a few weeks away from being able to play in the Olympics, but now it looks like being ready for training camp is a possibility. Gasol explained his status saying, "I'm really well and looking forward to starting [the season]. I miss the competition, playing and enjoying basketball. All indications are that the foot is fine. I've practiced with the [Girona basketball club] juniors all I could, especially half-court sets." Until more is revealed about Gasol's status, he makes for a risky pick in fantasy drafts.

Gasol averaged 16.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.3 blocks in 34.4 minutes per game this past season. He only played in 52 games, earning a nERD of -0.1, which ranked 81st in the league.
