Andrew Bogut

Mavericks acquire Andrew Bogut from Warriors

The Dallas Mavericks have acquired center Andrew Bogut in a trade with the Golden State Warriors, and they will absorb him into available cap space.

What It Means:

The Warriors needed to move Bogut and his $12.7 million cap-hit after signing Kevin Durant. The Mavericks will renounce some of their current contracts in order to clear the needed space for Bogut, who is in the final year of his deal. The big man fits into Dallas' two-pronged strategy, in which they are gunning for the playoffs in the short-term, while also clearing cap space for the impressive 2017 free agent class. He will be utilized more with the Mavericks, but his age (turning 32 in November) and his injury history (162 games missed the last five seasons) make him a risky pick in fantasy leagues, outside of anything late.

Bogut posted a solid 4.6 nERD, which ranked 38th, in 70 games played this season, but had low per-game averages. He averaged 5.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, while recording a career-best .623 true shooting percentage.
