Dwight Howard signs deal with Hawks

Forward/center Dwight Howard has reached agreement on a three-year, $70.5 million with the Atlanta Hawks.

What It Means:

While this is a smidge below the $24 million that Howard wanted per year, the big man is headed back to his hometown team. This essentially guarantees that Al Horford will not be re-signed, so we'll see where he winds up. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics have been mentioned as the two most likely suitors.

Howard quietly had a strong year last season, ranking 46th in the league with a 3.6 nERD, while his 20.2 percent total rebound rate was his best since leaving Orlando, and his .604 true shooting percentage was his best since 2010.
