Magic deal Victor Oladipo to Oklahoma City
The Orlando Magic dealt guard Victor Oladipo to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday.
This was a shocker. The Thunder landed the up-and-coming shooting guard who is an excellent athlete and regarded a good defender. Oladipo and Russell Westbrook may form the most athletic backcourt in the NBA. Oklahoma City had to give up Serge Ibaka to make this trade happen. Ersan Ilyasova and No. 11 pick Domantas Sabonis will be coming to the Thunder, as well.
Oladipo -- a former No. 2 overall pick -- ranked 82nd with a -0.2 nERD last year. He averaged 16.0 points, 4.8 boards, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals with a career-best 48.9 Effective Field Goal Percentage. Assuming Kevin Durant stays with the Thunder, Oladipo will have a tough time matching those numbers as he'll be a distant third option in Oklahoma City. In Orlando, this opens up minutes for Mario Hezonja, who will be a popular breakout candidate next season.
