Mavericks will go after Hassan Whiteside, Mike Conley

The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly made Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside and Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley their top two free agency targets.

What It Means:

Whiteside would like to stay in Miami, but assuming Chris Bosh doesn't retire, other teams around the league will be able to offer him considerably more money. Dallas anticipates speaking with the 27-year-old big man right when free agency kicks off. In the backcourt, a Conley signing means Deron Williams would be wrapping up his time with the Mavericks.

Whiteside ranked ninth in the league with a 12.4 nERD last season, while posting a 23.1 percent total rebound rate, a league-leading 9.7 percent block rate and a career-high .629 True Shooting Percentage. Conley owned a nERD of 3.1, which ranked 50th, last season. Before going down with an Achilles injury, he averaged 15.3 points, 6.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 56 contests.
