Knicks trade Robin Lopez, others to Bulls for Derrick Rose

The Chicago Bulls are sending point guard Derrick Rose, Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick to the New York Knicks for Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant, and Jose Calderon.

What It Means:

Bonkers. Chicago will transition to rebuilding mode, while Rose gets a fresh start with a new team. Last season, Rose was one of the worst high-volume players in the league, and was relatively healthy for the first time since the 2010-11 season. He played 66 games and never missed more than three consecutive games. Joining a roster with Carmelo Anthony means Rose likely won't see the ball in his hands as much, so he probably won't fill up the stat sheet on a consistent basis. As things stand, he's only worth a late-round flier in standard fantasy leagues.

Rose posted a -8.4 nERD last season, which was fourth-worst. He averaged 16.4 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game, while posting career worsts in True Shooting Percentage (47.9) and PER (13.5) for any season in which he played more than 10 games.
