Lakers expected to try to trade for Indiana's Paul George

Indiana Pacers forward Paul George is reportedly a trade target of the Los Angeles Lakers, according sources of Bill Simmons.

What It Means:

If the Lakers are able to secure a top-3 selection in the 2016 draft, they would reportedly like to use that pick among other assets (likely D'Angelo Russell) to try and lure George away from Indiana. While anything is possible, it would be extremely shocking to see Larry Bird deal away a top-15 player in his prime in order to go through a full rebuild with unproven talent. Indiana does appear to be on the outs with coach Frank Vogel, so maybe Bird wants to blow things up.

George -- regarded as one of the best two-way players in the league -- ended the regular season with per-game averages of 23.1 points, 7.0 boards 4.1 assists and 1.9 steals. His 49.0 Effective Field Goal Percentage was right in line with his career average (49.4). George checked in 23rd with a 7.0 nerd.
