Hornets' LaMelo Ball clears league protocols
Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball has been cleared to return from the NBA's health and safety protocols.
The Hornets assigned Ball to their NBA G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, for a conditioning and rehab assignment. Ball will join Jalen McDaniels and Mason Plumlee at practice with the Swarm on Tuesday. His first chance to return to the Hornets' lineup will be on Wednesday versus the San Antonio Spurs. Ball missed the past five games and Cody Martin has started the last four.
LaMelo is leading the Hornets with a 27.9% usage rate and averaging 45.4 FanDuel points per game this season. During Ball's five-game absence, Martin is averaging 38.1 minutes and 31.3 FanDuel points per contest.
