Dwight Powell scores 16 points in start for Dallas

Dallas Mavericks forward Dwight Powell moved into the starting lineup on Monday versus the Denver Nuggets and played really well, scoring 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting with seven boards, two steals and one block in 30 minutes.

What It Means:

Salah Mejri had been in the starting lineup for the last couple of games, but he didn't even see the floor on Monday. Powell's minutes have bounced around this season, but more showings like this could get him a more secure spot in the rotation going forward, especially with all of the Mavs' injuries.

Powell has been solid this season, posting a nERD of 2.6. His per-36 minute averages are 14.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals. He is well on his way to setting a career-high in Effective Field Goal Percentage at 50.2 percent.
