Clippers officially sign Branden Dawson
Branden Dawson and the Clippers have reportedly agreed to a two-year minimum contract, in which the first year is guaranteed. The Clips received Dawson (56th pick) in a draft-night trade with the Pelicans.
Dawson had an incredible career under Tom Izzo at Michigan State becoming one of only three players in school history to finish with 1,000 points and 100 blocks. Last season, he led the team with a 23.8 Player Efficiency Rating as well as leading the team with 2.5 Defensive Win Shares.
Dawson impressed during the Orlando Summer League, averaging 12.8 points, 10.2 boards (second in the league), and 1.2 blocks through four games. Dawson will mostly likely be a reserve next season for the Clippers, who finished the 2014-15 season second in our power rankings, but has great resources in Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, and Chris Paul to learn from.
