Wayne Ellington (calf) doubtful Wednesday for Pistons

Detroit Pistons shooting guard Wayne Ellington (right calf) is doubtful to play Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

What It Means:

Ellington shot just 1-for-5 in 21 minutes on Monday. It was his fewest field goal attempts in over a month and it's possible his calf was limiting him. Wednesday is also the front end of a back-to-back, so the Pistons may simply be giving the veteran a rest day. Ellington's role will likely diminish as the season winds down with Detroit prioritizing their younger players. Josh Jackson is a candidate to replace Ellington in the starting lineup and Saddiq Bey should take on a larger role.

Ellington is averaging 15.6 FanDuel points in 23.2 minutes per game this season. He's attempting 80.0 percent of his shots from beyond the arc and ranks in the top-20 in both 3-point (42.6) and true shooting (63.5) percentage.
