D'Angelo Russell (quad) expected to sit for Timberwolves again Monday
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell (quad contusion) is "probably unlikely" to play Monday versus the Golden State Warriors, per head coach Ryan Saunders.
Russell sat out Saturday after injuring his quad versus the Atlanta Hawks the day before, per Saunders. Ricky Rubio started in Russell's place and scored 9 points with 7 boards, 7 assists, and a steal. Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley shouldered most of the offensive responsibilities among the Timberwolves' starters. Anthony Edwards and Jarrett Culver combined for 34 points off the bench.
Edwards recorded a 37.3 percent usage rate on Saturday without Russell active while Vanderbilt (24.9) and Beasley (24.4) led the starters. The Warriors rank in the top-10 in terms of FanDuel points allowed per game to the point guard position this season.
