Atlanta's Tiago Splitter says he'll be out for eight months
Atlanta Hawks center Tiago Splitter said he'll have an eight-month recovery after undergoing hip surgery next week.
That means that he won't be available for Brazil during the Olympics, and there's a chance he's not ready to go when the 2016-'17 season begins. Splitter added he's been in serious pain since November, and that his surgery is scheduled for February 25. Mike Muscala and Mike Scott will do their best to help fill the void, but neither guy offers any standard league appeal.
In his sixth season in the league, first with Atlanta, Splitter's 52.3 Effective Field Goal Percentage tied a career-low. He put up 5.6 points and 3.3 boards while posting a 1.7 nERD, which ranks 59th.
