Pelicans' Tyreke Evans has season-ending surgery on right knee

New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans underwent successful surgery on his right knee on Thursday.

What It Means:

He is out for the season due to his lingering tendinitis. Evans had his third right knee surgery in the past nine months, but he is expected to be ready to start the season next year. The Pelicans will add another player, likely Bryce Dejean-Jones. Evans' future isn't looking great after winning Rookie of the Year over Stephen Curry in the 2009-'10 season.

Evans' -0.5 nERD ranks 81st in the NBA, and he only managed to play 25 games this season. He's averaging 15.2 points, 6.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game with a 53.4 True Shooting Percentage, which is the second-best clip of his career. Dejean-Jones currently ranks 80th with a -0.4 nERD through 11 games.
