Washington activates Alex Smith from the active/PUP list
The Washington Football Team has activated Alex Smith from the active/PUP list.
Smith has been cleared to resume football activities for the first time since suffering a devastating leg injury in November of 2018. Many expected the injury to end Smith's career, and his return is a testament to his will power and dedication.
Smith will obviously be an important leader for Washington this season, though his role may end there with 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins being the assumed starter at quarterback this season. Smith's production took a hit when he moved from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Washington Football Team, with his yards per attempt dropping just under a yard and a half between 2018 and 2019, but that's understandable given Washington's dearth of talent on the offensive side of the ball.
