Celtics could lose Gordon Hayward in September
Boston Celtics guard/forward Gordon Hayward told The Athletic's Jared Weiss that he would leave the NBA's bubble in Orlando when his wife goes into labor.
'That's a pretty easy decision for me on that. I've been there for the birth of all of my children,' Hayward stated. This is expected to happen in September, which could deal a huge blow to the Celtics in the middle of the playoffs. After leaving the bubble, Hayward could be required to quarantine for at least 10 days before being permitted to re-enter.
Hayward's absence would likely lead to increased minutes for Semi Ojeleye again, as it did earlier in the season when Hayward sat out for a few games with a knee injury. Hayward has enjoyed a solid bounce-back year after a disappointing 2018-19 season, and has averaged 17.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game this season.
