76ers' Joel Embiid draws praise for work during NBA shutdown

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has put in more time during the NBA shutdown than any other Sixers' player, according to coach Brett Brown.

What It Means:

Brown said that "There is nobody on our team that has put in more time than Joel Embiid, forget what he has actually done in the gym for a minute, just go to the man-hours and consecutive days and the amount of days he has put in over the past few months. I'm proud of him, I respect him. He needed to do it, we understand the impact he can have on our team." It's a positive sign for Embiid heading into the NBA re-start in Orlando later this month. Before the shutdown, Embiid was averaging 23.4 points per game, third in the league among centers. His 11.8 rebounds per game ranked sixth at the position, despite averaging just 30.2 minutes per game.

numberFire's models project Embiid to average 22.6 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 triples with a 50.5 field goal percentage and 30.8 3-point percentage over the rest of the season.
