Miami's Tyler Johnson to have left shoulder surgery

Miami Heat guard Tyler Johnson is expected to undergo left shoulder surgery this week, sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.

What It Means:

It's the same shoulder that has dogged Johnson all season, and he's chosen to have surgery after rest and rehab simply haven't been enough to correct an impingement he's dealt with since college. With a timetable that's likely to keep him out for at least two months, Johnson is expected to miss the rest of the (fantasy) season. Without him, Beno Udrih becomes a lot more important behind Goran Dragic while Gerald Green should also earn some extra time.

Johnson currently ranks 65th with a 1.3 nERD this season while appearing in 36 games. He's averaging 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest on a 48.8 shooting percentage from the field. Udrih ranks just outside of the top 100 with a -2.3 nERD.
