Kemba Walker (knee, rest) officially out for Celtics in second half of back-to-back

Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker (knee, rest) is not playing on Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

What It Means:

Walker returned from a five-game absence on Tuesday but the Celtics had already indicated that he wouldn't play in the second leg of the back-to-back. Expect a few more maintenance days for Walker between now and the postseason. Jayson Tatum (illness) is also out while Gordon Hayward (knee), Jaylen Brown (hamstring), and Marcus Smart (possible suspension) are uncertain, so the Celtics could be down four starters and a sixth man on Wednesday. Grant Williams, Javonte Green, Brad Wanamaker, and Carsen Edwards may all be in line for expanded workloads. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.

Per numberFire's NBA Heat Map, the Celtics-Cavaliers game has the second-lowest over/under (216.5 points) on Wednesday's nine-game slate.
