Lakers' D'Angelo Russell has sprained ankle
Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell suffered a moderate right ankle sprain in Thursday's loss to the Sacramento Kings.
The good news is that X-rays were negative. He had his ankle heavily taped after the game and limped very slowly while making his way to the team bus. For now, it sounds like he only has a slim chance to play on Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Marcelo Huertas could get in the rotation sans Russell, while Lou Williams and Jordan Clarkson would also benefit. Russell's fantasy owners can take solace in the fact that he was spectacular on Thursday with a career-high 27 points.
Russell still has the third-worst nERD in the league at -10.0, but he's trending in the right direction. His per-game averages sit at 12.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.5 three-pointers through 36 contests.
