Wizards' John Wall out 12 months for surgery on ruptured Achilles tendon

Washington Wizards point guard John Wall will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon and is expected to miss approximately 12 months from the time of the surgery.

What It Means:

That means Wall, who hasn't played since December 26 and was already done for the season, may not be back on the court until after the 2020 All-Star break, and he will most likely be hampered by minutes restrictions over the final two months of the season. Per an official Wizards press release, Wall had developed an infection in the incision from initial surgery on January 8 and he suffered the rupture after slipping and falling in his home. The 28-year-old guard signed a 4-year, $170 million contract extension in 2017 that starts next season at $37.8 million.

Wall averaged 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 8.7 assists, 1.5 steals, 0.9 blocks, and 1.6 triples in 32 games this season.
