Chicago Bulls rookie power forward Wendell Carter Jr. is day-to-day with a thumb sprain, reports K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.
The Bulls initially feared Carter Jr. was dealing with a fracture and would miss weeks, but the diagnosis was apparently better than expected. Bobby Portis will likely enter the starting lineup on Thursday versus the Denver Nuggets if Carter Jr. is unavailable.
Carter Jr. is averaging 25.6 FanDuel points through 44 games, with 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.3 blocks per contest.
