Clippers won't commit to Wesley Johnson as starter
Despite the fact that the Los Angeles Clippers snapped a three-game losing streak with guard/forward Wesley Johnson as the starting small forward, head coach Doc Rivers would not commit to keeping him in the starting five long-term.
Rivers explained his decision by saying, "That lineup is a lineup that I'm going to keep moving, depending on guys. I like Wes the most because of his size and his ability to shoot, but there's nights where you play a great offensive player at that spot and we may go with a defensive guy. We're going to just keep moving it around." The other players Rivers is referring to are Lance Stephenson and Paul Pierce, who are going to continue subbing in-and-out of the starting lineup with Johnson for the time being.
The start was the first for Johnson this season, and he has posted a 1.3 nERD -- good for 64th overall -- in 14 games played. He's averaging 5.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 15.0 minutes per game. The Clippers play the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, and we project Johnson to score 5.5 points, pull down 2.7 boards, and record 0.7 assists. It's a tricky fantasy situation to project for the rest of the season considering the starting lineup could be different night-to-night.
