Derrick White expected to open the year as Spurs' starting point guard
San Antonio Spurs guard Derrick White is expected to start the season as the starting point guard, following Dejounte Murray's ACL tear.
What It Means:
With the Spurs not expected to acquire another point guard via trade or free agency, White and Patty Mills remain as the only two true point guards on the roster. Mills believes he is best suited to stay with the second-unit, pushing White to the starting job with Murray out for the year.
White averaged 3.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per game last season while shooting 48.5% from the floor.
