Wizards' Dwight Howard's back injury reportedly minor

Washington Wizards forward/center Dwight Howard has been diagnosed with a piriformis injury, which is a muscle in the buttocks, but it is not believed to be a serious issue, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.

What It Means:

Howard suffered a weekend setback with his most recent back injury. The 32-year-old big man has a history of back problems, so even if Howard is ready for the opener, this could wind up being a lingering issue throughout the season. Ian Mahinmi is the second center on the Wizards' roster.

numberFire's models currently project Howard for 12.7 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game this season.
