5 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players Trending Up for 3/23/16

A red-hot Ricky Rubio takes on the Kings in a very favorable matchup. What other hot streaks should you be riding in your lineups tonight?

But, if you don't have the time today, I'm here to provide you with five of the hottest players from the last five games -- and ones with favorable matchups going into tonight's slate of games.

Shelvin Mack, PG, Utah Jazz

FanDuel Price: $6,300

FanDuel Season Avg. L5 Avg. % Above
Shelvin Mack 14.56 34.56 137.44

It may have taken a little time, but Shelvin Mack is finally clicking on his new squad. Over the last five games, he has been producing at the highest rate above season average of any player on tonight's slate and has outscored his salary-implied total (5 points for every $1,000) in each of those contests. He's scoring 14.8 points per game while racking up 9.6 assists in 33.6 minutes a night over the same amount of games, so he's bringing a lot to the table on a nightly basis. At $6,300, his price still hasn't caught up to the production, so he's a great play against a Rockets team on the second leg of a back-to-back.

Victor Oladipo, SG, Orlando Magic

FanDuel Price: $8,500

FanDuel Season Avg. L5 Avg. % Above
Victor Oladipo 29.92 44.92 50.14

As you may have noticed in my recent article, Victor Oladipo has really been playing some good basketball lately. With teammate Nikola Vucevic banged up, Oladipo has seen his Usage Rate jump from his season average of 23.02% to 25.12% over the last five -- leading to some big production for the explosive combo-guard. During his recent hot streak, he's had just one game in which he's failed to score at least 40 FanDuel points, and at the same time, he's averaging 27.8 real points per night. And don't let Detroit's stingy defense scare you away -- Oladipo's ballin' out.

Gorgui Dieng, PF, Minnesota Timberwolves

FanDuel Price: $6,400

FanDuel Season Avg. L5 Avg. % Above
Gorgui Dieng 24.02 35.3 46.98

We all know how great a DFS player Karl-Anthony Towns has been this season. But did you know that, when he's gotten the minutes, Gorgui Dieng has been very good in his own right? For example, over his last five games he's averaging 31.8 minutes a game and yielding 35.3 FanDuel points per contest. In doing so, he's exceeded his value in four out of his last five contests with an average return of 5.7 points per $1,000. He's a pretty obvious play tonight against a terrible Kings defense, so he makes for a better cash than tournament target.

Dirk Nowitzki, PF, Dallas Mavericks

FanDuel Price: $8,000

FanDuel Season Avg. L5 Avg. % Above
Dirk Nowitzki 31.14 44.48 42.82

Much like his game, Dirk Nowitzki's fantasy production is timeless. At age 37, Dirk has been one of the best players and DFS options in the NBA over the last week and a half with at least 20 points in eight straight games. His big-time scoring hasn't been the only factor contributing to his uptick in fantasy goodness either. Over his last five games old man Nowitzki is averaging 7.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 blocks in over 34 minutes of floor time. Remember, he's 37! Keep in mind, though, that this is Dirk we're talking about, so I wouldn't doubt he continues this recent trend against a Portland team ranked 15th of the 24 teams on tonight's slate against the power forward position.

Ricky Rubio, PG, Minnesota Timberwolves

FanDuel Price: $7,000

FanDuel Season Avg. L5 Avg. % Above
Ricky Rubio 30.65 39.54 29

Everyone is going to be targeting this Sacramento/Minnesota game on tonight's slate -- and for good reason. It has an over/under of 223 points, and neither teams likes to play much defense. There will be a lot of value to go around, but for my dollar, Ricky Rubio might be the best play in either cash or tournament formats. He has been producing all year, but in the last week he's carrying an average value of 5.9 points per $1,000 over the last five while simultaneously putting up averages of 15 points and 11.4 helpers per contest. And if that has you sold, you'll really like to hear that the Kings rank 19th of tonight's 24 teams against his position.
