5 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Wednesday 11/16/22
One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays.
If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at some players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup on FanDuel tonight, using numberFire's daily fantasy basketball projections as a guide.
Bruce Brown, SG, Denver Nuggets
FanDuel Salary: $5,100
The Denver Nuggets will be without Nikola Jokic, which opens up value by itself. But they also list Bones Hyland as doubtful and Aaron Gordon as questionable.
Minutes will be available here.
Bruce Brown Jr. projects for 25.4 minutes tonight while Gordon remains projected (30.7). Brown's projection of 25.4 minutes will shoot up without Gordon, as we have seen him play 36.7 and 31.5 minutes in the past two games.
Brown produces a respectable 0.84 FanDuel points per minute but has been at 0.91 and 0.93 the past two years.
Without Jokic on the floor this season, Brown has a viable 21.1% usage rate, which is up 4.4 percentage points from when he shares the floor with Joker.
DeAndre Jordan, C, Denver Nuggets
FanDuel Salary: $4,000
A direct beneficiary of Jokic's absence, DeAndre Jordan, is in play tonight. His 15.5% usage rate has led to 0.99 FanDuel points per minute in 147.6 minutes without Jokic this season.
Overall, Jordan has averaged that same rate this season: 0.99 FanDuel points per minute.
The Nuggets draw the New York Knicks, a team ranked just 19th in rebounding rate over the past five games (while Mitchell Robinson has been out).
Cam Reddish, SG/SF, New York Knicks
FanDuel Salary: $3,500
In the same game at the minimum salary, we have Cam Reddish. Reddish has started six straight games without Robinson.
In those past six games, Reddish has averaged 27.8 minutes, 10.2 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.5 combined blocks and steals for 17.6 FanDuel points per game.
That's not super ideal, even at a minimum salary.
However, the Nuggets allow 115.9 points per 100 possessions without Jokic on the floor, so we should expect some better shooting efficiency for Reddish tonight.
Kevin Love, PF/C, Cleveland Cavaliers
FanDuel Salary: $4,900
With Jarrett Allen out, Kevin Love sets up well to produce at a $4,900 salary tonight against a thinned-out Milwaukee Bucks team.
Love has already been averaging 23.4 minutes per game, and he played 29.1 minutes last game without Allen. In that outing, Love returned 25.0 FanDuel points on the back of 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 14 points (despite 3-of-11 shooting).
Even at this point in his career, Love is an efficient producer (1.18 FanDuel points per minute).
Caleb Martin, SF/SG, Miami Heat
FanDuel Salary: $4,600
The Miami Heat have plenty of injury issues tonight: Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo are out. They average 31.3 and 35.0 minutes per game, respectively. That opens up a lot.
Caleb Martin has averaged 32.6 minutes over his past five games and has been above 30.8 in four straight.
In that four-game split, Martin has averaged 23.9 FanDuel points with 8.8 field goal attempts, 10.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 combined blocks and steals.
That's a pretty full stat line for someone with a sub-$5,000 salary, and the ceiling flashed last game out when he put up 37.5 FanDuel points.
