3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Tuesday 10/25/22

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays.

If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at some players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup on FanDuel tonight, using numberFire's daily fantasy basketball projections as a guide.

Norman Powell, SF/SG, Los Angeles Clippers ($3,900)

There's a pretty big opportunity for Norman Powell tonight due to the Los Angeles Clippers' absences.

The Clippers list Paul George and Marcus Morris as out, and as a result, Powell is projected for 29.6 minutes. That's a bump from his per-game average so far this season of 24.8.

In his time on court, Powell is putting up only 0.52 FanDuel points per minute. That said, he averaged 0.89 FanDuel points per minute last season, so there should be some regression coming his way this season once the field goal percentage bumps up from 25.9%.

Even at his 24.8-minute average, Powell has averaged 9.0 shot attempts to go along with 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 steals. There's a path to upside within his role and usage. He just needs to shoot better.

Overall, Powell is projected for 16.3 points, 3.3 boards, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 combined steals and blocks tonight. He's the top projected value of the night.

Spencer Dinwiddie, PG/SG, Dallas Mavericks ($5,000)

The Dallas Mavericks list Tim Hardaway Jr. as doubtful for tonight, and that should lead to extra minutes for Spencer Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie is projected for 30.8 minutes and 31.8 FanDuel points. That works out to 6.36 FanDuel points per $1,000 in salary (i.e. value). Only Powell (6.54) bests that rate.

That's also a minutes jump of 2.9 from his per-game average (27.9). Dinwiddie is shooting a steady 50.0% from the field and a too-hot 60.0% from three in his two games.

Even if the percentages dip, the volume has been there and should remain. Dinwiddie has 11 and 13 shot attempts over 27 and 28 minutes, respectively.

Jose Alvarado, PG, New Orleans Pelicans ($3,700)

Back down in the sub-$4,000 range, we have Jose Alvarado for the shorthanded New Orleans Pelicans. New Orleans lists Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Herbert Jones as out.

Yes, that will most directly help the frontcourt assets for New Orleans -- namely Jonas Valanciunas ($7,600). Larry Nance Jr. ($5,500) and Trey Murphy III ($5,600) should start alongside him in the frontcourt. C.J. McCollum ($8,300) is slated for a huge usage rate (we project him at a 27.4% usage rate).

But Alvarado himself is slated for minutes at just $3,700.

He is already averaging 18.2 minutes per game (and 14.3 fantasy points). An increased role (23.1 minutes) is leading to an outright projection of 22.6 FanDuel points. At 20.6% likely, Alvarado is rating out as the most likely player to lead the slate in FanDuel points per $1,000. Powell at 18.1% is the only other player above 12.5%.
