Jalen Smith Under 12.5 Points (-122)

So far this year, when Jalen Smith has been able to get his minutes, he's scored well.

In his opener, Smith battled with foul trouble and totaled 16 points in 19 minutes. In the second game, he exited early with an injury, playing seven minutes and scoring two points. Last time out, he amassed 19 points (and 15 boards) in 27 minutes.

Overall, Smith has been good, but something I've left out is how easy the Indiana Pacers' schedule has been, as they've opened with home bouts against the Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons.

The Pacers lost two of those games and face their stiffest test yet today at the Philadelphia 76ers. Indiana might get dumptrucked by the Sixers. The Pacers are a 12.0-point road 'dog, and a blowout could keep Smith from getting his usual run.

On top of that, Smith has a brutal matchup -- on both ends -- against Joel Embiid, one in which Smith could very easily get into foul trouble once again, which makes for a second viable path to fewer minutes. And Philly has given up the ninth-fewest points per game to the center position this year, so even if Smith gets his typical burn, he might not score 13 points.

We project Smith to score 11.8 points, and I see a lot of reasons to take the under.

Jusuf Nurkic Over 9.5 Rebounds (-111)

So far this season, Jusuf Nurkic is second in the league with an average of 22.7 rebound chances per game, and he's taking advantage, snagging 10.3 boards per night.

Nurkic has a home game against the Denver Nuggets. He'll have to battle Nikola Jokic on the glass in this one, but with 17 boards two games ago against Deandre Ayton and 13 last time out versus Anthony Davis, Nurkic can still do work despite the tough matchup.

This is a pace-up matchup for Portland, who sit 18th in pace, compared to Denver's ranking of 4th. Nurkic will also be aided by this game having a 226.0-point total and 4.5-point spread, meaning there will be plenty of possessions and not much blowout risk.

Our model forecasts Nurkic to total 10.3 boards on Tuesday.

Ben Simmons Over 8.5 Points (+106)

If you like points and very little defense, the Memphis Grizzlies-Brooklyn Nets game should be for you. The total is way up at 233.0, and both squads sit in the bottom three in defensive rating.

The game environment should be a rising tide that lifts all boats, including Ben Simmons in the scoring department.

Simmons has dropped in just four and six points through his first two games. On the bright side, he played 32 minutes in his most recent game, and the best kind of environment for him to score is in transition, something we could see a good amount of in his back-and-forth affair.

Our projections have Simmons scoring 9.9 points, and you can get this at plus money.
