3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 1/27/20

Austin Rivers is set for a big role due to a number of injuries on the Rockets. Which other players can you look at for some savings tonight?

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at three players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.

Austin Rivers, PG, Houston Rockets ($3,600)

With Russell Westbrook ruled out tonight and James Harden listed as questionable, the Houston Rockets have plenty of value. Westbrook played yesterday and will sit out on their back-to-back. Harden didn't play yesterday, and with the potential of missing a second straight game, the Rockets will have a completely new starting lineup.

Austin Rivers didn't get the start yesterday but played 33 minutes, posting 26.2 FanDuel points in the process. That level of production is something we might see from Rivers, who could end up being in the starting lineup tonight with Westbrook out. He comes in only $100 more than the minimum salary and should be one of the more popular plays tonight due to the shortened rotation for the Rockets.

Our projections have Rivers coming in as the third-best value play tonight, projected for 20.6 FanDuel points in 32 minutes. It's a tougher matchup versus the Utah Jazz, but his minutes should be secure, along with having a very cheap price tag.

Tyler Herro, SG, Miami Heat ($4,300)

The Miami Heat have a messy injury situation tonight, leaving plenty of minutes for Tyler Herro.

As of now, Jimmy Butler, Kendrick Nunn, and Goran Dragic are all listed as questionable for tonight's game against the Orlando Magic. Herro was in the starting lineup for the Heat on Friday when we saw both Nunn and Dragic out. Butler got the start at point guard in that game, and it's safe to assume that if any or all of those players miss tonight's game, Herro will once again be in the starting lineup.

When Butler, Nunn, and Dragic are all off the court this season, Herro carries a 28.3% usage rate, which is a 4.9% increase from when those players are on the court. Herro took 19 field goal attempts on Friday -- his third-highest mark of the season -- and could be back up near that level given the injury situation. That should play in his favor since he is up against the Magic, who are allowing 41.1 FanDuel points per game to shooting guards this season -- 14th in the league.

Bogdan Bogdanovic, SG, Sacramento Kings ($4,500)

Bogdan Bogdanovic comes in as our fourth-best value play at shooting guard tonight, so let's take a look at why.

Bogdanovic was in the starting lineup in the Sacramento Kings' most recent game, and if we see him there again tonight, he makes a clear value play. The Kings are on the road to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in what should be a very fantasy-friendly game. The Kings are sitting at 25th in offensive pace this season, while the Timberwolves are the third-fastest team in the league.

This is a big pace up spot for the Kings, and it comes against a weak Minnesota defense, who are allowing 44.3 FanDuel points per game to shooting guards this season, the fifth-most in the league. We have Bogdanovic projected for 27 minutes and 24 FanDuel points tonight. The spot is favorable for Bogdanovic, but we just need confirmation that he's in the starting lineup, since his start on Friday was his first of the season.
