3 NBA DraftKings Studs to Target on 1/7/20

Devin Booker has been piling up fantasy points over the last half-dozen games. Who joins him as must-haves on Tuesday's DFS slate?

While building a daily fantasy basketball lineup, it's important to make sure you find the right studs to anchor your team. As the most expensive players in your lineup, they need big-time production to match their high price tag.

You may find it hard to fit some of these guys in while staying under the salary cap, but you can check out our projections to find value players for your rosters. Let's take a look at the top high-priced DraftKings plays of the day.

Anthony Davis, PF/C, Los Angeles Lakers

DraftKings Price: $10,700

At the top of Tuesday's six game-slate, we have the trio of LeBron James (up at $11,200), Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,800) and Anthony Davis. With KAT, he could be missing his 11th straight game, and there has been no signs to the contrary as of yet. That leaves us the Los Angeles Lakers' star-powered duo with Davis the cheaper of the two. That is good enough reason to opt for him, but Davis also provides as much -- if not more -- upside.

For the season, AD now has nine games with at least 60 DraftKings points, thanks to back-to-back games of 73.25 and 64.75, respectively. Five have taken place at Staples Center, where it just so happens Davis has narrowed the point-per-game gap between he and James to 54.0-54.8.

This is a peach spot for yet another monster performance. The New York Knicks head into the matchup as 13-point road underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, and a 220.5 over/under bestows the Lakers with a 116.75 team total. As you can expect, we project Brow to be a big part of that, projecting him for 50.8 DK points in 35.6 minutes.

Andre Drummond, C, Detroit Pistons

DraftKings Price: $9,700

Much like Davis a year ago, Andre Drummond finds himself the subject of trade rumors in recent days. And while the Pistons star has given voice to his wanting to finish his career in Detroit, we shouldn't discount his motivation to show out either way.

Last time out, Drummond turned 41 minutes into 45 DK points despite a 2-for-13 night from the floor. It marked his second straight game with at least 18 rebounds and 45 DK points, and it represents his fourth 45-plus-point game in the last five. His scoring hasn't been where it was earlier in the year, yet he's producing the fantasy numbers worthy of a guy priced near the five digits.

Obviously, rebounding is a giant part of Drummond's game. On a per-game basis, it accounts for more than 44% of his fantasy points. And though the Cleveland Cavaliers rank 11th overall in rebounding, he did put up a big line (17 points, 14 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 blocks and 4 assists) opposite them last time out.

The icing on the cake is the absence of Blake Griffin. Griffin has already been ruled out for Tuesday, so Drummond will be the unquestioned center of the offense. When that has been the case, NBA Wowy tells us that he's used 27.3% of his team's offensive possessions en route to 1.41 DK points per minute. If he plays 35 minutes and clicks at that rate, he's a good bet to hit five-times value.

Devin Booker, PG/SG, Phoenix Suns

DraftKings Price: $8,800

Devin Booker is the night's NBA Hangtime he's on fire play of the night. His price is up $600 from the last game he played just two nights ago, but he has most certainly earned it. Going back to December 27, he has scored at least 32 points in each of his last six games, doing so on his way to 49.3 DK points a game in that span.

In Booker's last two games alone, he has knocked down 57.4% of his field goal attempts and 95.4% of his 22 free throws, all while posting a usage of 34.4% -- 6% above his season average. In other words, he is locked in.

There's no reason to think Booker will slow down, either. Against a Sacramento Kings team ranked sixth-worst against shooting guards, per FantasyPros, he is averaging 28.0 points (on 56.7% shooting) and 49.7 DK points through three head-to-heads this season. Our models are being fairly conservative in projecting him at 24.2 points and 40.2 DK points.
