3 NBA Player Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 1/2/20

P.J. Washington's points prop is enticing tonight in a date with the Cavs. Which other player props should you zero in on?

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways, from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash), to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy basketball.

While you can use those odds in fantasy, you can also utilize our fantasy projections and a variety of other tools to help make money on betting everyday player props.

For the purposes of this article, we are using the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook to pinpoint three spots where value can be had on a player's stat line, scoring, or even shot type.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

Bam Adebayo, Over 26.5 Points + Rebounds

Bam Adebayo and the Heat meet the Toronto Raptors for the second time this season, this time in Miami. Adebayo had 18 points and 7 rebounds against the Raptors in the first meeting, and that was with Pascal Siakam and Marc Gasol in the lineup. Now that two of the three bigs for Toronto are out, Adebayo should record his fourth double-double in five games.

Big Bam climbed to ninth among the league leaders in rebounding (10.6) after a strong showing in December with averages of 17.7 points and 11.1 rebounds across 15 games. He should continue it into the new year. Adebayo has recorded double-digit points in 12 straight games and 14 of 15 to go along with 10 games of at least 10 rebounds over those 15. He's gone over 26.5 combined points and rebounds in eight of his last 10 games.

DeMar DeRozan, Over 20.5 Points

On the season, DeMar DeRozan averages 19.3 points at home, but over his last three games at the AT&T Center, he's scored 24 points twice and 29 in the other game. He's shot better than 60 percent from the field and attempted at least 14 shots in all three games.

He's averaged 24.8 points over his last five games for the San Antonio Spurs. DeRozan has been on a insane scoring streak, hitting 51 of 74 shots (68.9%) from the field in his last five games and 22 of 27 free throws (81.4%).

DeRozan failed to score 20 points in three games versus the Oklahoma City Thunder last season and did so only once (24) in 2017-18. Without Paul George and Russell Westbrook in OKC, I like DeRozan to finally top 20 points against the Thunder. Our model projects DeRozan's 20-point scoring streak reach six consecutive games with a projected 22.5 points tonight.

PJ Washington, Over 12.5 Points

PJ Washington's line opened at 11.5 points and moved to 12.5 after Vegas wised up. The Hornets' latest big man averaged 14.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in December and faces a Cavaliers unit that ranks 20th in rebounding and 20th in points allowed. Washington will face the Cavs for the first time, and if he surpasses his average of 11 shot attempts from December, he should go over this point prop tonight.

This matchup features two teams that rank among the bottom of the league in field goal percentage, pace, rebounding and points per game -- to name a few. That may be the reason for the lower points prop for Washington. But despite these bad offenses, the total is still a solid 213.0.

Washington has recorded at least 13 points and four rebounds in his last eight games, and he's scored 13 or more in eight straight. He averages 12.5 points on the season (31 games) and 14.0 in his last three road games.
