NBA Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 2/8/19
Looking set to play a huge offensive role for the Knicks, Dennis Smith Jr. offers big upside against Detroit. Who else should you target on our post-trade deadline slate?

If you're new to daily fantasy basketball -- maybe you started your DFS journey during the MLB or NFL seasons, or maybe basketball is your sport and this will be your first year giving it a shot -- you're in for a treat. The NBA scene changes hugely on a week-to-week, day-to-day, and -- depending on injury news -- even a minute-to-minute basis, making every slate a unique one that requires an ever-changing approach.

With so much changing so quickly, we're here with plenty of tools to help you out. We have daily projections, a matchup heat map, a lineup optimizer, and a ton of other great resources to help give you an edge.

We'll also be coming at you with this primer every day, breaking down a few of the day's top plays at each price point.

Let's take a look at who you should target on today's main slate.

Best of the Best

Karl-Anthony Towns ($11,200): Towns has played three games against the New Orleans Pelicans this season. The first was unremarkable, but the next two led to two of his four highest single-game fantasy scores of the year at 70.4 and 78.9 FanDuel points. I don't usually read into players' matchups with specific teams too much, since we're dealing with very small sample sizes, but it's also no surprise that Towns has unleashed his upside against the Pels, who allow top-12 fantasy efficiency to centers, rank 23rd in defensive rating and play the NBA's 6th-highest pace. KAT has topped 60 FanDuel points four times in his last nine games, and he's not likely to slow down much against New Orleans.
