NBA Daily Fantasy Helper: Sunday 12/23/18

Anthony Davis is in a money spot tonight as the Pels-Kings matchup boasts a massive 239.0-point total. Who else should you look to on Sunday's main slate?

If you're new to daily fantasy basketball -- maybe you started your DFS journey during the MLB or NFL seasons, or maybe basketball is your sport and this will be your first year giving it a shot -- you're in for a treat. The NBA scene changes hugely on a week-to-week, day-to-day, and -- depending on injury news -- even a minute-to-minute basis, making every slate a unique one that requires an ever-changing approach.

With so much changing so quickly, we're here with plenty of tools to help you out. We have daily projections, a matchup heat map, a lineup optimizer, and a ton of other great resources to help give you an edge.

We'll also be coming at you with this primer every day, breaking down a few of the day's top plays at each price point.

Let's take a look at who you should target on today's main slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. EST.

Best of the Best

Anthony Davis ($12,500): There are only three players on tonight's slate with five-figure salaries on FanDuel. The most expensive of the three is, of course, Anthony Davis, the New Orleans Pelicans big is having a career season. His averages of 28.1 points, 12.6 boards, 4.7 dimes, and 1.7 steals are all at least tied for career-high clips. His 61.2 FanDuel points per game aren't just first in the league, they're first by a whipping 7.1 points. The difference between Davis and number-two Giannis Antetokounmpo is about the same as the difference between Giannis and the number-nine ranked player. Sure, you're going to be spending more than 20% of your salary on him, but Davis one of the few players who can make that type of cap commitment seem like you're getting a deal. We have him projected for 58.3 FanDuel points in a matchup against a Sacramento Kings defense that is giving up the fifth-most FanDuel points per game to opposing power forwards and the seventh-most to centers.
