NBA Daily Fantasy Helper: Saturday 5/5/18
If you're new to daily fantasy basketball -- maybe you started your DFS journey during the MLB or NFL seasons, or maybe basketball is your sport and this will be your first year giving it a shot -- you're in for a treat. The NBA scene changes hugely on a week-to-week, day-to-day, and -- depending on injury news -- even a minute-to-minute basis, making every slate a unique one that requires an ever-changing approach.
With so much changing so quickly, we're here with plenty of tools to help you out. We have daily projections, a matchup heat map, a lineup optimizer, and a ton of other great resources to help give you an edge.
We'll also be coming at you with this primer every day, breaking down a few of the day's top plays at each price point.
Let's take a look at who you should target on today's main slate, which starts at 5 p.m. EST and contains two games.
Best of the Best
LeBron James ($14,000) - There is no denying it -- James is going to cost you on Saturday. His salary of $14,000 represents 23.3% of your available cash. The King is worth it, though. In the first two games against the Toronto Raptors, he is averaging 34.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 13.5 assists in 43.7 minutes per game with a 35.9% usage rate. That adds up to an average of 71.2 FanDuel points per game, which is 5.1 points per $1,000 even at today’s huge salary. It hasn't been against just the Raps, either. LeBron has flipped the switch into playoff mode as he is leading the NBA with 34.4 real-world points per game this postseason and has scored at least 54.4 FanDuel points in all but one of his nine playoff games this year. Factor in the lack of elite talent on the two-game slate -- James is the only player available on Saturday who has registered an outing of at least 60 FanDuel points this postseason -- and the Cleveland Cavaliers' superstar will be hard to fade.
