3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 1/29/18

Myles has a tough matchup against a red-hot Dwight Howard tonight. Which other NBA players should you keep off your DFS rosters on Monday?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Myles Turner, C, Indiana Pacers

FanDuel Price: $5,500

Myles Turner returned for the Indiana Pacers two nights ago against the Orlando Magic, but he came off the bench and only played 11 minutes. Even if Turner sees more minutes tonight against the Charlotte Hornets, his matchup and potentially still limited workload makes him a player to avoid.

The Hornets are holding opposing centers to sixth-fewest FanDuel points per minute according to our DvP Matchup Chart, and Dwight Howard has been a big reason for that. In their four career meetings against one another, Howard has held Turner to 4.0 points and 4.8 rebounds on 30.0% shooting from the floor.

Taurean Prince, SF, Atlanta Hawks

FanDuel Price: $4,800

Taurean Prince has seen his playing time come back over his last two games, playing 31 minutes in each. However, he has one the toughest matchups of any player tonight, as he has to square off against Jimmy Butler on both ends of the court.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are holding small forwards to just 0.74 FanDuel points per minute this season. Butler himself is limiting players he defends to just 45.2% shooting and only 35.6% shooting outside of 15 feet.

Maxi Kleber, PF, Dallas Mavericks

FanDuel Price: $4,100

Maxi Kleber is coming off playing 35 minutes against the Denver Nuggets Saturday, but that game was played on the second night of a back-to-back, so there is a chance he sees his minutes reduced a little on Monday against the Miami Heat.

Not only could he see less playing time, but the Heat have also been very good against opposing power forwards. Players at this position are averaging just 0.85 FanDuel points per minute against Miami, so if Kleber drops back to play between 20 and 30 minutes, he is likely a player to avoid in DFS.
