3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 11/28/17

Hassan Whiteside is nursing a sore knee, and that could make him a dangerous DFS play on Tuesday's short slate.

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to -- or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Hassan Whiteside, C, Miami Heat

FanDuel Price: $8,400

There is something not quite right about Hassan Whiteside right now. He sat out the final 15 minutes of Miami's last game with a heating pack on his knee, and while he said after the game that his knee had nothing to do with his absence down the stretch, it is concerning for his day-to-day fantasy value.

Tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Whiteside is far from a safe option -- potentially because of his ongoing knee issues -- and that could make him an exceptionally big landmine at the price of $8,400.

The Cavaliers have also been solid defensively against opposing centers. Big men are averaging just over a fantasy point per minute against the Cavaliers, which ranks 10th-best in the league. Whiteside is averaging just 28.9 FanDuel points and 23.8 minutes per game over his last four, so it might be best to take a pass.

Will Barton, SG, Denver Nuggets

FanDuel Price: $6,300

Fading Will Barton might be the wrong move tonight if Wilson Chandler ends up playing, but if Chandler misses the game, Barton's ownership might be higher, making him an even more dangerous play.

That's because the Utah Jazz have been very good against opposing wing players. Shooting guards are averaging just 0.79 FanDuel points per game against the Jazz this season, so while Barton may still be worth a shot with Chandler out, he is risky on the road in Salt Lake City.

Zach Randolph, PF, Sacramento Kings

FanDuel Price: $5,800

Zach Randolph has been as steady as ever at age 36 for the Sacramento Kings, but coming off a game last night against the Golden State Warriors -- and with a tough matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday -- Randolph may see a dip in production.

The Bucks have been the best team in the league at defending fantasy power forwards, limiting them to 0.82 FanDuel points per minute. Even though Randolph has been good on no rest this season, the deeper we get into the year will make it harder on the aging veteran to stay consistent.
