3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 11/24/17

Elfrid Payton and the Magic have a very tough matchup on the road in Boston tonight. Who else should you fade in your Black Friday DFS lineups?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to -- or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Elfrid Payton, PG, Orlando Magic

FanDuel Price: $6,200

Elfrid Payton is coming off a 10-point, 13-assist double-double against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but things will get tougher tonight against the Boston Celtics, which could lead to Payton's point chasers being unhappy with the results.

The Celtics have been excellent defensively, allowing a league-best 98.1 points per 100 possessions. They are also holding opponents to a 48.4% effective field goal percentage and have been tough on point guards.

This position on the court is averaging just 0.80 FanDuel points per minute against the Celtics, and while Payton missed Orlando's first meeting against the C's this season, he doesn't have the greatest outlook tonight.

DeMarre Carroll, SF, Brooklyn Nets

FanDuel Price: $5,800

Coming off a tough matchup against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, DeMarre Carroll has another one on Friday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Maurice Harkless has been an extremely good defender this season and will likely be locked in on Carroll. He's holding opposing players to just 37.7% shooting, which obviously isn't great for Carroll's fantasy outlook.

As a team, the Portland Trail Blazers are limiting small forwards to just 0.75 FanDuel points per minute. They're also holding opponents to a 47.9% effective field goal percentage, which is tops in the NBA.

Josh Richardson, SF, Miami Heat

FanDuel Price: $4,400

Josh Richardson has been inconsistent this season, which makes for a nice tournament play in the right circumstances. However, the circumstances are not great tonight against Jimmy Butler and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Wolves haven't been great defensively, but have limited the fantasy production of small forwards. The position is averaging just 0.76 FanDuel points per minute, making Richardson tough to target, assuming he is being defended by Butler.
