3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 11/14/17

Spencer Dinwiddie could be a popular DFS option on Tuesday, but that could also make him a big landmine if he underperforms

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to -- or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Spencer Dinwiddie, PG, Brooklyn Nets

FanDuel Price: $5,800

With D'Angelo Russell out for the next several games, Spencer Dinwiddie is going to be a popular DFS option. However, while he may seem appealing with a reasonable price tag on this short slate, that also may be what makes him a big landmine.

His ownership will surely be high tonight, but if he flops in your lineup, there is no chance of winning a tournament.

Dinwiddie's matchup is also not the best. The Boston Celtics are holding opposing point guards to just 0.8 FanDuel points per minute, and even though Kyrie Irving plans to play tonight, Dinwiddie could see a lot of Marcus Smart defending him. Smart is holding players he defends to just 40.4% shooting this season, so with the potential high ownership, Dinwiddie should be avoided in tournaments.

Kyle Anderson, SF, San Antonio Spurs

FanDuel Price: $5,200

Kyle Anderson's play has been overshadowed by Rudy Gay some this season, but Anderson has played well. He is averaging 27.6 FanDuel points over his last six games.

However, Anderson also has a tough matchup on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks, and with a price tag of $5,200, Anderson might be hard-pressed to reach value on the short slate.

The Mavs are holding opposing small forwards to 0.78 FanDuel points per minute this season, and with Gay also needing minutes on the wing, Anderson doesn't have the upside to warrant rostering tonight.

Yogi Ferrell, PG, Dallas Mavericks

FanDuel Price: $4,300

Yogi Ferrell is coming off 18 points on Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but on Tuesday he has a much tougher matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs' defense is holding opposing point guards to 0.74 FanDuel points per minute, and even though our models project Ferrell for 21.4 FanDuel points, he could find it hard to reach value with the Dallas Mavericks owning the lowest implied total on our Matchup Heat Map of 96.5.
