3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 11/13/17

Jeff Teague has a tough road matchup tonight against the Utah Jazz. Who else should you leave off your DFS rosters?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to -- or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Jeff Teague, PG, Minnesota Timberwolves

FanDuel Price: $6,500

Even with the loss of Rudy Gobert for the next four to six weeks, the Utah Jazz still have a very good defense. Their pace of play at home is hard on opposing fantasy players, and Jeff Teague might face the brunt of that on Monday.

The Jazz are holding opposing point guards to just 0.78 FanDuel points per minute on the season, the second-best clip in the league, according to our defense-versus-position matchup chart.

Teague also did not have a great outing against the Jazz earlier this season in a home game. Now that he and the Minnesota Timberwolves are on the road against a Utah defense that is four points better at home than they are in their travels, Teague is one of the 'Wolves you can avoid tonight.

Jae Crowder, PF, Cleveland Cavaliers

FanDuel Price: $4,200

While LeBron James and Kristaps Porzingis will likely spend some time defending one another in this game, the New York Knicks will want to save their best player -- as much as possible -- for the offensive end.

That could mean that Jae Crowder once again could see a lot of Porzingis defending him while he's in the game, a situation that has been tough on opposing power forwards. The Knicks are holding power forwards to a meager 0.81 FanDuel points per minute, and Porzingis is limiting players he defends to 40.1% shooting from the floor.

The last time these two faced off, Crowder was limited to 11.5 FanDuel points in 20 minutes off the bench. Now that Crowder is in the starting lineup, he might have to go head-to-head with Porzingis even more in this one.

Dillon Brooks, SF, Memphis Grizzlies

FanDuel Price: $4,100

Dillon Brooks looks like yet another find in the 2017 NBA Draft, and he didn't even get picked until midway through the second round. However, the Memphis Grizzlies' rookie swingman has been prone to foul trouble lately, averaging over 5 fouls per 36 minutes, and tonight he will likely defend one of the Milwaukee Bucks' talented forwards.

Even if he isn't guarding Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brooks will then likely be trying to cover Khris Middleton. On the flip side, one of these two are going to be defending him most of the night, and so far this season, that has spelled bad news for fantasy value.

The Bucks are holding opposing small forwards to just 0.78 FanDuel points per minute, and right now our models project Brooks for just 18.1 FanDuel points.
